ST. PETER'S COLLEGE, CAMBRIDGE, November 6th, 1883.

I have much pleasure in giving testimony in favour of Mr. R. M. JAMESON as a candidate for a Mastership. He has been with us four terms, having migrated to Peterhouse in October, 1882. While he has been with us he has always been gentlemanly and courteous in manners and bearing, and by his geniality, rapidly ingratiated himself with the members of his new college. This qualification appears to me to be of great value in one who seeks a mastership in school.

As to Mr. JAMESON's knowledge; in the wide range of subjects read for the previous and general examinations, he has made an excellent appearance. He is now reading Chemistry, &c., for the final examination in December, and I have every reason to believe that his careful study, diligence, and perseverance, leave no doubt of his success in obtaining his degree before Christmas.

I must add that, while using his utmost diligence to do well in the final examination, he has had time to prepare the Natural Science subjects of the 1st M.B. examination, his intention being merely to qualify himself as much as possible for a Mastership.

I therefore confidently recommend him for such a post as that for which he now applies; and I feel sure that his appointment will give satisfaction to all.

J. D. H. DICKSON, M.A., Fellow and Tutor of Peterhouse, Cambridge.

P.S.-Respecting the final examination referred to by Mr. Dickson, my name appeared in the First Class, at the head of the list of successful candidates. R.M.J.
